I love this song. I love this video. I don’t care that some people are saying it’s a novelty. Who cares? It’s a killer song, great groove, fun lyrics. When was the last time you heard a song that made you feel this good? Ironically for me it was “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley.

I think that this could be a watershed moment here for the music business. “Fuck You” could be the first hit single that is not played on radio or television.

I went to The Hotel Café last night to see Jamie Drake do her first of five in her Wednesday night residency. I haven’t seen her perform in about two months and the last time I saw her was at an acoustic performance at Cranes.

The show last night was truly amazing Jamie has taken her whole live show up a couple of notches. First off she went electric – I know this doesn’t have the same gravitas …

Wow, I was sitting on my couch a few days ago and got a phone call from a number I have never seen. This almost always intrigues me into answering so I did answer my phone, and it was Michael Rosenblatt of LP33 calling me to say that Metrofique won the LP33 Studio Fast Track competition! To be honest I had entered my group so long ago that I forgot all about it, or at least about …

After much deliberation and listening to demos from all over the world, the winner of the Studio Fast Track Competition is Metrofique from San Diego.  Metrofique consists of two guys, Gabe and Steve, who pretty much do everything themselves.  What attracted me to them were their songs, voices, and their approach. I love that they don’t over produce their tracks – they let them breathe and use the space between the instruments really well.  They remind me of Ryan Adams, …

LP33 is celebrating things gay and musical. Following our very popular Top 20 List of the Sexiest Out Gay Male Musicians we are following up with something for the ladies with the official LP33 2010 Top 20 Sexiest Out Lesbian Musicians.

The chip is pre-loaded with however much money you’d like (and can afford), and can be reloaded at machines set up around the festival grounds. Although no festival promoter contacted by the BBC confirmed any events next summer to be 100% cash free, one company behind the technology guaranteed two major festivals will be completely electronic in 2011.

We break down the pros and cons after the jump.

Saturday night I had the great pleasure of going to the Troubadour with my daughter Bea and her friend to see The Like.

I’ve been a fan of the band for a while now, and I actually tried to sign them when they first came out. I loved their first album, and was somewhat surprised that it didn’t connect with a larger audience when it came out.

Their new album Release Me is really good, and marks a change within the …

I just saw the new OK Go video for “End Love”, and it’s fucking great. Those guys know how to do it right. Great song, fun concept, and great execution. The band are now off EMI which is a whole other story. Can you believe that EMI dropped them because the company couldn’t go along with the bands ideas to promote their videos online? No wonder EMI are thisclose to being out of business. WAKE UP! It’s the 21st century. Oh well, I digress…

Back to OK Go – their marketing ideas regarding the video are wonderful. The band are giving the video away for free on their website, and if you put the video on your Facebook page and get the most comments on it you win an iPad. Also, if you go to the bands website and give them your email address you get the song for free. Heresy! No wonder they were dropped by EMI! How dare they interact with their fans and give them what the fan wants?!

Well, I’m sure glad they did.

Go watch and enjoy.
