Their music incorporates layered violins, touches of trumpets, hard electric guitar, drums, and original vocals (all best exemplified in their song “Who Knows Who Cares”). I’m guessing the high expectations for “Local Natives” will be met by their …

There are a handful of bands on my “SXSW-Must-See-Or-Leave-Austin-Crying” list. One of them is The Temper Trap, the band responsible for my favorite album of 2009: Conditions.

Since then, they’ve been burning up the ears of music critics, bloggers, and fans all over the world with their poignant lyrics, …

I have to admit, not many rock bands have excited me lately, but I did a double-take when I heard Karnivool. These Australians have crafted a complex sound of epic beauty and grinding intensity – they’re not afraid to explore new sounds and bend the rules of the genre as Ian Kenny’s masterful voice guides you along a journey with surprises around every corner.

SXSW favorite Alison Sudol – who made her SXSW debut at the festival in 2007 opening for The Stooges – is no stranger to great collaborations. Known professionally with her band as A Fine Frenzy, Sudol has covered Elton John with Brandi Carlyle and toured with the likes of Rufus Wainwright, and her new collaboration is no less buzzworthy.

Starring Sudol, directed by photographer and artist Angela Kohler and with a soundtrack written by A Fine Frenzy and produced by Butch …
