SXSW favorite Alison Sudol – who made her SXSW debut at the festival in 2007 opening for The Stooges – is no stranger to great collaborations. Known professionally with her band as A Fine Frenzy, Sudol has covered Elton John with Brandi Carlyle and toured with the likes of Rufus Wainwright, and her new collaboration is no less buzzworthy.
Starring Sudol, directed by photographer and artist Angela Kohler and with a soundtrack written by A Fine Frenzy and produced by Butch …
Alessio Natalizia is not planning to bring the next great banjo-based bluegrass show to SXSW, and he isn’t likely to freak out in the middle of one of his dream pop standards during his set in Austin this March. However misleading his Banjo or Freakout moniker might be, Natalizia might very well become one of this year’s most talked about and sought-after live shows at SXSW 2010.
Having drawn comparisons to the likes of Elliot Smith and The Flaming Lips, this London-based artists cultivated an audience thanks in part to his blog, where he posted his cover songs. Now equipped with a full band and fresh off a European tour with fellow SXSW band The Soft Pack, Banjo or Freakout is set to take the stage in Austin, TX with its fair share of buzz and a fresh outlook on indie pop music.
Banjo or Freakout will be making multiple appearances at SXSW, so be sure not to miss out. You can catch their video for “Upside Down” here and watch the “Left it Alone” below.

A vocalist named Tigs, a bassist named James, and a guitarist named Will got together with some synths in early 2008. What was the result?
A rockin’ new group called, CHEW LiPS who have been hard at work drumming up a buzz in the UK… without a drummer. While they feel right at home in the UK, you can catch them in Austin, TX this March when they play SXSW.
This isn’t your grandma’s electro-pop; you won’t find much complex layering or deep grinding synths here. But what you will find in this stripped down lo-fi techpop are powerful and textured vocals which at times are reminiscent of Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Karen O. Additionally, their catchy (yet not overcooked) melodies are sure to please.
The CHEW LiPS have created an addicting combination that has the potential to carry this band to stardom. Be sure to check them out this March when they tear it up at SXSW.

For me the first punk rock band was The Who. They had the look the attitude and they were a little scary the way they literally tore up the stage. I was lucky enough to see The Who live a few times back in the 70’s and early 80’s. I am a fan and will continue to be one, but the halftime show at this weekend’s Superbowl for me was horrible.
Yes they were a great band with groundbreaking …
