NME Picks The Strokes as “The Top 100 Greatest Albums of The Decade”

Is_This_ItPerhaps the single best mainstream music publication, NME, published a list yesterday of the 100 Best Albums Of The Decade or as they have dubbed it the noughties.  The list was complied together from producers, label executives and bands such as Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys. A surprise to some, NYC band The Strokes came in number one for their 2001  Is This It? In second, were The Libertines with Up The Bracket.

When asked to give his thoughts, lead singer of The Strokes Julian Casablanca said, “Does it mean it’s a good musical decade or a bad musical decade? I don’t know, I’m such a bad judge of my own stuff. But I thought it was great when I heard.”

Other bands that made the top ten were Radiohead, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, PJ Harvey and a choice I certainly don’t agree with The Streets. I’m sorry but, I always thought that The Streets sounded like suck a pansy wanker on the microphone, to place in front of Jay-Z is beyond absurd.

I have posted the full list below courtesy of NME. To read the full article, click HERE.
