Banjo or Freakout – SXSWatch

Alessio Natalizia is not planning to bring the next great banjo-based bluegrass show to SXSW, and he isn’t likely to freak out in the middle of one of his dream pop standards during his set in Austin this March. However misleading his Banjo or Freakout moniker might be, Natalizia might very well become one of this year’s most talked about and sought-after live shows at SXSW 2010.

Having drawn comparisons to the likes of Elliot Smith and The Flaming Lips, this London-based artists cultivated an audience thanks in part to his blog, where he posted his cover songs. Now equipped with a full band and fresh off a European tour with fellow SXSW band The Soft Pack, Banjo or Freakout is set to take the stage in Austin, TX with its fair share of buzz and a fresh outlook on indie pop music.

Banjo or Freakout will be making multiple appearances at SXSW, so be sure not to miss out. You can catch their video for “Upside Down” here and watch the “Left it Alone” below.
