Make A Record With The Pros

I’m really psyched! We just started a contest here at LP33.tv called Studio FastTrack.  The winner will get a prize package that will include me as your personal A&R guy for three months. I’ll work with the winning band or singer on songs and production, and pretty much everything I did for every artist I’ve ever signed. Our partner on the contest is Pledge Music – you should definitely check them out – and together with Pledge, I will work with the winner to record an EP together.

There is nothing I love more than working with new artists. Helping them find and develop their own sound is the most exciting and inspiring part of my career.  The winner and I will be blogging about process so even if you don’t win, you can see see how the process unfolds.

Here is some info on me…well, I’m a Gemini and I like long walks on the beach… Okay, seriously.  I started doing A&R in 1977 when I discovered The B-52’s while working at Sire Records in New York.  After that came Madonna, Depeche Mode, New Radicals, Augustana, Hockey and a slew of others. I’ve also worked at Geffen Records, WEA UK, MCA and I ran a label with a couple of record producers through Columbia. So, I’ve been doing this a long time.  And I have a lot of experience and insights that I’m excited to share with the winner and those of you who will follow along.
